Compost-A-Ball FAQ's
CB REC FAQ’s
The Basics
What’s the Compost-A-Ball™?
It’s the world’s first fully compostable pickleball! Made from a unique blend of wheat straw and rice husk, this ball plays like plastic but breaks down naturally in just 100 days—unlike regular pickleballs that stick around for centuries.
How does it compare to a regular plastic pickleball?
Pretty darn close! It’s designed to match the feel and bounce of a traditional ball, but with a slightly softer touch and a longer dwell time (meaning it stays on your paddle just a bit longer). If you like control and finesse, you’ll love it!
Can I use the Compost-A-Ball™ in tournaments?
Not yet! Right now, it’s meant for casual and recreational play. But who knows? Maybe one day, eco-friendly pickleball will be the new norm.
Performance & Durability
Does it feel different when playing?
A little bit! It has a softer feel, which gives you more control and helps with spin. Some players actually prefer it over traditional plastic balls, especially for longer rallies.
How long does the Compost-A-Ball™ last?
It’s durable enough for plenty of games, but since it’s made from natural materials, it may wear down a little faster than plastic. The good news? When it’s done, it won’t sit in a landfill for 500+ years.
Can I use it indoors and outdoors?
Yep! Whether you're playing in a gym or outside on a sunny day, the Compost-A-Ball™ holds up just fine. Just try not to leave it in extreme heat or rain for too long—it’s made to break down eventually, after all.
Eco-Friendly Goodness
How long does it take to break down?
Just 100 days! Compare that to regular pickleballs, which take over 500 years to decompose into microplastics that never really go away. Yikes.
Can I just toss it in my compost bin at home?
Absolutely! It’s backyard-compost friendly, so when it’s worn out, just throw it in with your food scraps and let nature do its thing.
What if it ends up in a landfill or the ocean?
Even if it’s not composted properly, it’ll still break down over time—unlike plastic balls, which stick around forever.
Buying & Playing
Where can I buy the Compost-A-Ball™?
You can grab it online from Pro-Pickle and select retailers. Check our website for the latest!
How do I make it last as long as possible?
Store it in a cool, dry place—just like you would with regular pickleballs. If you leave it out in the rain for weeks, well… it’s going to do what it was designed to do: break down.
Is it really that much better for the environment?
Yep! No plastic, no microplastics, no guilt. Just a high-performance ball that lets you enjoy the game without contributing to the 77 million pounds of plastic waste pickleball creates every year.
CB PRO FAQ’s
The Basics
What is the CB PRO?
The CB PRO is a high-performance, eco-friendly pickleball designed for serious players who want top-tier durability and precision—without the plastic guilt. It’s made from a modified biodegradable plastic (MPE) that breaks down naturally over time, reducing plastic waste without sacrificing performance.
How does the CB PRO compare to regular pickleballs?
It plays just like a high-quality plastic pickleball, but it’s engineered to break down naturally with the help of microorganisms and bacteria. You get the same fast-paced, responsive play while making a more sustainable choice.
Is the CB PRO just for recreational players, or is it built for serious play?
This ball was made for serious play. It’s durable, precise, and built to withstand intense games. In fact, it passed a 3000-shot impact test—so you know it can take a beating.
Performance & Durability
Does the CB PRO play differently than a regular tournament pickleball?
Not at all! The CB PRO is designed with:
- 40 precisely drilled holes for consistent flight and aerodynamics
- 1.8mm wall thickness for durability
- 48-54 hardness rating for the perfect mix of control and responsiveness
A bright yellow color for high visibility on any court
How long does the CB PRO last?
It’s built for longevity, so you can expect it to hold up just as well as top plastic pickleballs. With a 26-27g weight and sturdy construction, it’s made to withstand powerful hits and aggressive play.
Can I use the CB PRO for tournaments?
Right now, the CB PRO is designed for high-performance play but has not yet been approved for official tournament use. However, its specs closely match standard tournament balls.
Sustainability & Biodegradability
What makes the CB PRO biodegradable?
Unlike traditional plastic balls that take centuries to break down, the CB PRO is made with modified polyethylene (MPE)—a plastic that has been chemically altered through oxygenation and other processes so that microorganisms and bacteria can break it down naturally over time.
How long does it take to biodegrade?
The timeline depends on the environment, but it breaks down much faster than conventional plastic pickleballs. While it won’t start degrading while you play, it won’t sit in a landfill for 500+ years, either.
Does it leave behind microplastics?
Nope! The CB PRO was designed to biodegrade fully, so it won’t contribute to microplastic pollution. That’s a big win for the planet.
Buying & Playing
Where can I buy the CB PRO?
You can find it online through Pro-Pickle and select retailers. Check our website for availability.
What’s the best way to store the CB PRO?
Just like any other pickleball—keep it in a dry place away from extreme heat or moisture to maximize its lifespan.
Is this the best sustainable option for competitive players?
Yes! If you want a pro-level pickleball that feels, performs, and lasts like traditional plastic, but with a biodegradable twist, the CB PRO is the best option available.
